What is 3D Secure?

3D Secure is a fraud prevention service that helps guard against unauthorised use of your NLB card on the Internet. It allows you to add a personal security password, known as your 3D Secure Password, which you then use to validate each online transaction. This helps to protect you from unauthorised use when shopping online as only you know the password you have chosen.Back to top

How does 3D Secure work?

When you register, you set a 3D Secure Password that you keep secret, just like your PIN. Then, when you buy goods or services at any one of the 300,000+ participating retailers, you are prompted for your 3D Secure Password to authorise that the card is yours and the purchase can go ahead.

It gives you peace of mind because once you’ve registered, if someone attempts to use your card fraudulently at any of these retailers, they won’t be able to do it without your 3D Secure Password. Back to top

3D Secure is a service that is paid in the amount € 1.00, only for initial activation of the service (registration), while payments made after activation / registration are free. Back to top

Registration During Shopping

What is ‘Registration During Shopping’?

As a NLB Prishtina Debit/Credit Card customer, we offer you the opportunity to register for 3D Secure when you shop at participating online retailers. The registration process is simple and quick – all you have to do is enter a few identifying pieces of information, and set the personal 3D Secure Password you will be using to verify your future purchases.

Why do I have to supply personal information during registration?

The personal information you are supplying is used as a security measure to make sure you are the genuine cardholder. The information you supply is verified against the data stored in our secure database and is not shared with the online retailer. Back to top

I have more than one NLB Prishtina Debit/Credit Card. Can I use the same 3D Secure Password for all my cards?

Yes, if you so wish. When you register your NLB Prishtina Debit/Credit Card with 3D Secure you will set a personal 3D Secure Password. This 3D Secure Password will be valid for the NLB Prishtina Debit/Credit Card that you have just registered; if you have more than one card you will need to register each individually, and you can – if you wish – choose the same 3D Secure Password for each and every card as only you will know what this password is.

You must select a 3D Secure Password between 8-15 characters, which includes at least one number and one letter. You may not use a 3D Secure Password that you have used in the past. We recommend that you select a 3D Secure Password that will be easy for you to remember and difficult for others to guess. Back to top

Would I have the opportunity not to activate 3D Secure service?

Customers can choose not to activate the 3D Secure service by clicking on the icon “X” in the upper right corner of the pop-up page. However, 3D Secure service will become mandatory for all customers who wish to purchase goods or services online and not activation of 3D Secure service will result in rejection of the transaction online. Back to top

What is a Personal Greeting?

The Personal Greeting is a short sentence that you set during registration to add a further level of comfort that the screen asking you for your 3D Secure Password is genuine. When you pay online, always look for your Personal Greeting before you enter your 3D Secure Password to ensure that you’re using the authentic 3D Secure service. Please note – you cannot set a Personal Greeting that will be identical to your 3D Secure Password. Your 3D Secure Password must be kept secret, while the Personal Greeting is openly displayed on the password input screen. Back to top

I have activate 3D Secure service for my cards. Will I also be able to activate the card of the authorized person?

Authorized persons will also be instructed to activate the 3D Secure service when using the card to spend online. They will follow the same process of activation and will create 3D Secure password itself. Authorized persons will have to use their own personal information i.e. own date of birth and identification number. Back to top

What is the Card Security Code (CVC2)?

The Card Security Code (CVC2) is the last three digits that appear on the back of your card, on the signature panel. It is used as an extra security measure to make sure you are in the possession of the card you are registering. Back to top

Shopping with 3D Secure

How do I shop with 3D Secure?

When you shop online with your NLB Prishtina Debit/Credit Card, the 3D Secure service will automatically appear during the checkout process at participating online retailers. You can then register and proceed with the purchase as described in “What is ‘Registration During Shopping’?”

Once you’ve registered for 3D Secure, the next time you are shopping online at a participating retailer you will be prompted for your 3D Secure Password during the checkout process. The screen will show details of your current purchase, such as site name, purchase amount and date. You can then input your personal 3D Secure Password and click ‘Submit’ to proceed with the purchase. Without your 3D Secure Password the purchase cannot take place. Back to top

Where can I shop with 3D Secure?

Over 300,000 online retailers are already a part of 3D Secure, and more merchants are signing up all the time. If you’ve registered for 3D Secure but you don’t see the password screen appear during the checkout process, it may mean that online retailer isn’t yet taking part in 3D Secure.  Back to top

What should I do if I purchase online but the 3D Secure screen does not appear?

Firstly, check to make sure that the card you used for the purchase is one that you have registered for the 3D Secure service. Secondly, determine whether the online retailer is participating in 3D Secure. Most participating retailers will display information about taking part in 3D Secure, such as displaying the MasterCard SecureCode and Verified By Visa logos.

If the online retailer is participating and you are using the correct card, contact their customer service department to check their systems are working properly.

If the online retailer isn’t participating in 3D Secure then you can continue with the transaction and do not have to enter your 3D Secure Password. Back to top

Can I continue to shop at online retailers that do not participate in the 3D Secure service?

Yes, however you will not be able to use 3D Secure. To complete the purchase at such online retailers, simply follow the regular checkout process. Back to top

I forgot my 3D Secure Password. What should I do?

If you forgot your 3D Secure Password, select the ‘Forgot your 3D Secure Password’ link that appears during the 3D Secure part of the checkout process. Enter the registration information requested on the screen and you will then be able to select a new 3D Secure Password; remember, you will not be able to use a previous 3D Secure Password and you should choose something memorable that cannot be guessed easily. Back to top

I don’t see my Personal Greeting during the 3D Secure process. What should I do?

Always look for your Personal Greeting before entering your 3D Secure Password. If your Personal Greeting does not appear on the screen where you input your password, please do not enter your password; instead, contact the customer services team on 038 240 230 100 immediately.
