NLB Banka wants to provide you with security in your online purchases, so in cooperation with MasterCard SecureCodeTM and Verified by VisaTM we offer you the 3D Secure service.
3D Secure is an automatic online security service that is designed to help protect NLB Banka Credit and Debit cards against unauthorized use online. The 3D Secure service works by using a one-time password that the Bank sends you via SMS to your mobile phone and serves as your unique identifier for online purchases. You must then use the 3D Secure one-time password to authenticate the online transaction with the online vendors you transact with. This helps protect you from unauthorized use when you make transacions online.
How does 3D Secure work?
When you make purchases online, 3D Secure issues you a receipt at the end of the process. The receipt includes details of your purchase, such as the website name, purchase value and date. You sign the 3D Secure receipt using the one-time password sent by the Bank via SMS to your mobile phone and click the "Send" button to continue with the purchase. Without the password sent via SMS for 3D Secure, the purchase cannot be completed.
How does 3D Secure protect me?
Since your card is protected by a one-time 3D Secure password, only you can use your credit or debit card online. This enables online shopping to be safer than ever before. Without the password sent via SMS by the Bank for 3D Secure, the purchase cannot be made.
Will I need to apply for a new card to use the 3D Secure service?
No. You will be able to use your existing card from NLB Banka.
When will my account be debited for purchases through the 3D Secure service?
Your account will be debited on the same date as before.
Will I have to pay for the 3D Secure service?
3D Secure is a service that the Bank offers for free, while ONLINE purchases are charged according to the applicable price list.
What happens when my card from NLB Banka expires or is replaced with a new card in case of loss or damage?
When your card expires or is damaged or lost, and you are issued with a new card, you do not need to take any additional steps as the new card is active for the 3D Secure service.
Activation
All cards issued by NLB Bank have the 3D Secure service activated. All that is needed is to make sure that your mobile phone number is updated in the Bank's system because SMS messages are sent to the phone number that you have registered in the Bank's system.
Please ensure that you read and agree to the Terms and Conditions, as using the 3D Secure service implies that you have done so.
What types of cards can be used in the 3D Secure service?
You can use the 3D Secure service with all types of cards owned by you and issued by NLB Banka.
Why do I need to update my mobile phone number?
Personal information and in particular your mobile phone number must be updated because SMS messages with a one-time password are forwarded only by SMS message and to the number registered in the Bank's system.
What is a 3-Digit Security Number?
The 3-Digit Security Number is the last three numbers that are printed on the back of your card. They are used as an additional security measure to prove that the card being activated is in your actual possession.
What should I do if I encounter a problem while using the 3D Secure service?

How to buy online with 3D Secure?
The 3D Secure service is an automatic service that is provided during the online transaction completion process. At the end of the transaction, 3D Secure from NLB Banka will issue a receipt including details of the actual purchase, such as the website name, purchase value and date. You will sign the 3D Secure receipt using the one-time password that you will receive from the Bank via SMS to your mobile phone number registered in the Bank's system and when you press the 'Send' button you will complete the purchase. Without your 3D Secure one-time password, the purchase will not be able to be completed successfully.
The receipt will bear the logo of NLB Banka as well as one of the logos of either MasterCard SecureCode or Verified by Visa, depending on which card you are using.
Where can I buy online with 3D Secure?
There are currently more than 350,000 online merchants worldwide participating in the 3D Secure service.
What should I do if I make an online purchase but the 3D Secure page does not appear?
First, check if the online merchant is part of the 3D Secure scheme – look for the MasterCard SecureCode or Verified by Visa logo. In case the online merchant is not part of the 3D Secure scheme, contact the customer service department of that merchant.
Can I spend at online retailers that are not part of the 3D Secure service?
Yes. However, you will not be able to use the 3D Secure service. To complete the online purchase with these merchants, simply follow the usual online purchase process.
